Faith Formation

Sunday School

Our youth Sunday School classes meet directly after worship at 10:30 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month from October through May. Children have fun learning about their faith through stories, crafts, songs, and projects.

Confirmation

Confirmation Instruction is offered for those wishing to affirm their baptism, explore faith questions, and put their faith into action. We meet directly after worship at 10:30 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month from October through May.

Adult Education

Bible Studies are offered for adults throughout the year. Check our calendar for the current offerings.

Book Club meets on Thursday afternoons from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. We gather in the Carpenter Room to discuss a book we have read together, discuss how it intersects with our faith, and enjoy friendship and laughter together. Everyone is welcome!

The Community Garden began in 2014 with an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s (ELCA’s) Domestic Hunger Grant.  Plots are designated for local people who might not otherwise have access to growing their own produce. During the growing season, some of the produce raised is also donated to the local food pantries.

Anyone wishing to grow fresh, organic produce can apply for a free plot. Garden beds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to people with low income. In addition to the raised bed in the churchyard, a free water supply, tools for use in the garden, and seedlings are also available at no cost to participants.

Three of the roughly 4’ x 4’ sections of the raised beds have been allocated for use by the congregation. The six remaining beds are reserved for the community. Participants can grow whatever produce they like, as long as they tend their section and take the responsibility to follow the garden rules. Anyone interested should call the church office at 585-243-4490 and leave their contact information. Planting day is mid-May.

Addressing hunger issues is a special focus of St. Timothy. Each September, we hold a rummage sale to raise funds for the Lakeville Community Pantry and the Geneseo-Groveland Emergency Food Pantry.

St. Timothy also regularly collects food for the pantries, holds a Souper Bowl of Caring, and prepares Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need. We also support world hunger issues through donations to Lutheran World Relief and ELCA World Hunger.

The St. Timothy Quilters meet each Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Together they make about 100 quilts and 30 Baby Care Kits each year that are delivered to Lutheran World Relief (LWR) for worldwide distribution.  LWR first distributed quilts in 1945 after WWII and is the longest-running program.  The quilts are highly regarded because of their quality and consistency.  The average number of quilts  donated to LWR each year is 300,000.

St. Timothy has a St. Pauly Clothing Shed off the parking lot where people from the surrounding community can drop off used clothing. St. Pauly Textile, Inc. purchases the clothing from us, and we then use the money to support community projects.

St. Pauly sells and distributes the clothing through foreign governments, relief organizations, the U.N., private companies, and the U.S. government. Each year, St. Timothy collects over 35,000 pounds of clothing – enough to clothe over 7,000 people. Funds received from St. Pauly are redistributed in the community.

Each year the youth use grants from Thrivent to purchase Toys for Tots and Blessings for Teens that are distributed to local families in need.

The WELCA group meets for lunch at a local restaurant and collects money to support community projects. Combined with Thrivent grants, they have supported the York School District Backpack Project, Livingston County Summer Camp, and Chances and Changes to name a few.
